MARIETTA - A 17-year-old Marietta High School student accused of raping a girl in a boys' restroom in the school has been released on bond.
Michael Dawson was arrested March 10 three days after the alleged rape. Police said the 16-year-old girl told her parents and they called police.
The school's security cameras captured pictures of the couple going into the bathroom. What happened inside is in dispute.
At a hearing Friday, Marietta police Detective Grant Foster said he could not tell from the pictures whether the girl was being forced into the bathroom. Foster said Dawson told him she went willingly to have sex, but at one point she changed her mind ``and then it was like, whatever.''
Chief Judge Frank Cox of the Cobb County Magistrate Court ruled that probable cause existed to bind the case over for possible indictment by a grand jury. Cox set bond at $25,000.
