COLUMBIA, S.C. - Ryan Shealy had three RBIs and Florida broke open a close game with an eight-run ninth inning to defeat South Carolina 14-5 on Saturday. <br>

Florida starter Alex Hart gave up five hits over eight innings to improve to 7-0. The Gators (21-4) improved to 4-1 in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division, a game in front of South Carolina (20-4) at 3-2. Georgia is tied with Florida for the early-season SEC East lead.<br>

The two teams conclude their three-game series Sunday. <br>

The Gators led 6-4 going into the ninth, but batted 12 men to put things away. They got seven hits, including a two-run homer by Shealy, in the big inning. <br>
<br>
Shealy also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. <br>
<br>
Florida catcher Brian Rose had two RBIs and was one of seven Gators with two hits off Gamecock pitching. <br>
<br>
South Carolina led 2-0 after two innings. But Florida tied the game in the fourth on three hits and Shealy's sacrifice fly. <br>

The Gators took the lead for good in the sixth inning with three runs and three hits, including Shealy's double. <br>
<br>
South Carolina starter David Marchbanks (5-2) worked into the sixth inning. He gave up five runs and six hits and was charged with the loss.<br>

TENNESSEE, 5, AUBURN 2<br>

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - Dennis Gomez hit a home run and Patrick Hicklen struck out seven as Tennessee defeated Auburn 5-2 Saturday, snapping a 12-game winless streak with the Tigers. <br>

Gomez's fourth home run of the season capped scoring in the eighth. Hicklen (4-3) retired 12 straight at one point and gave up runs in the first and fourth to earn the win. <br>
<br>
Tennessee (13-14, 1-4 Southeastern Conference) trailed early before taking the lead for good in the fifth on poor pitching by Auburn (19-5, 3-1). <br>
<br>
Eric Brandon (3-1) hit the first two batters he faced. After a Tennessee sacrifice bunt and a pitching change by Auburn, Matt Sternberg scored on a fielder's choice to tie the game at 2. Auburn's Arnold Hughey balked on Jordan Czarniecki's attempted steal of home to give Tennessee the lead for good. <br>

The Volunteers added runs in the sixth and the eighth innings. <br>

Scott Schade added a home run for the Tigers in the fourth. <br>

ARKANSAS 10, ALABAMA 0<br>

FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS - Gary Hogan Jr. allowed no runs in nine innings on the mound as Arkansas blanked Alabama 10-0 Saturday in a Southeastern Conference matchup. <br>
<br>
Hogan struck out a career-high eight batters and handed out no walks to allow the Razorbacks (12-9, 2-3 SEC) to end a 13-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide (20-3, 4-1). The last time Arkansas beat Alabama was an 11-8 victory in 1998 at Fayetteville. <br>

A five-run second inning was highlighted by Cliff Crouse's three-run home run. Freshman Scott Hode's first career hit came in the third inning with a two-run homer. Michael Conner hit another three-run homer in the eighth inning. <br>
<br>
Hogan, who scattered six hits, raised his record to 2-2 with the win. Starter Josh Baker took the loss for Alabama to fall to 3-1.<br>

LSU 6, OLE MISS 5<br>

OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI - Blake Gill had a two-out run-scoring single in the seventh inning and Aaron Hill hit an RBI double in the eighth as LSU defeated Mississippi 6-5 on Saturday. <br>

LSU pitcher Lane Mestepey pitched a complete game, overcoming a career-high five walks to hold Ole Miss (15-7, 1-4 Southeastern Conference) to five runs, four earned, on 10 hits. <br>
<br>
LSU (15-10, 2-3) jumped out to the early lead and never trailed. The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning and added a run in the second and third innings to build a 4-0 lead. <br>
<br>
With the score 6-4 in the eighth, the Rebels scored a run on Josh Christian's sacrifice fly, but the Tigers closed out the inning. <br>
<br>
Ole Miss threatened to tie the score again in the bottom of the ninth when Barry Gunter was hit by a pitch to start the inning. <br>
<br>
Jonathan Swearingen walked to put runners on first and second with one out. Seth Smith, however, bounced into a fielder's choice and Rogers hit a soft line drive back to Mestepey (4-2) for the final out. <br>
<br>
Pete Montrenes (5-2) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings.
