Rape suspect agrees not to bother Augusta teen-agers

By
AUGUSTA - A North Carolina rape suspect has been charged with making terroristic threats against three young women who accused him of rape in Augusta.

Aaron LeBlanc is in a Gastonia, N.C., jail unable to post a $500,000 bond. He was arrested there March 18 on a charge of first-degree rape after a 24-year-old neighbor told police that he talked his way into her apartment, accosted her with a knife, tied her up and raped her.

On Feb. 21, LeBlanc, 19, was acquitted of rape in Augusta and freed from the Richmond County jail.

During his trial, he read portions of letters he had written to a former girlfriend in which he threaten to kill two 19-year-olds and a 17-year-old who had accused him. LeBlanc insisted that he had meant no harm and that he was only angry when he wrote the letters.

The innocent verdict was returned the next day, but the three sought a restraining order prohibiting LeBlanc from harassing them.

Through his attorney, Danny Durham, LeBlanc consented Tuesday to the restraining order. It forbids LeBlanc from going within 500 yards of any public or private property where the three woman are, makes any phone call, writes any letter or uses electronic communication to reach the three, or if he uses a third party to communicate with them.

District Attorney Danny Craig also announced that LeBlanc was charged with three counts of making terroristic threats based on a letter LeBlanc wrote from jail.
