Bank of America jobs being moved from Nashville to Atlanta

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - Bank of America will lay off 110 Nashville employees by May as it moves technology operations to Atlanta. <br> <br> The layoffs announced Monday affect employees with duties such as statement rendering, research and adjustments, and the proofing of checks. Some will be offered jobs in Georgia, and all will get outplacement help, extended benefits and severance pay. <br> <br> Spokeswoman Mary Welch said the company is looking at ways to see where efficiencies make sense. She said, ``We make no secret of the fact we are very carefully watching expenses and carefully looking at our operations to see what makes sense from an efficiency standpoint, which will serve our customers better.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bank of America has closed a Tennessee marketing unit and laid off the local head of its statewide consumer banking operations in the past two years. The layoffs will cut bank staffing in Nashville by about one-fourth.
