Former coach convicted of molesting boy

By
JONESBORO - A Superior Court jury has convicted a former youth baseball coach of molesting a player who was 7 or 8 years old.

Wednesday's verdict against Bob Jerald Duncan Jr., came a decade after he was released from prison for a sodomy offense involving a 14-year-old boy.

Duncan, 37, could receive up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced April 12 by Judge Deborah Benefield.

The boy, now 11, testified that Duncan touched him inappropriately during a visit to the coach's house. Another boy who played on one of Duncan's teams said the coach hugged and kissed him inappropriately.

The jury also heard from the victim in the 1990 case. After his conviction in that case, Duncan served a three-year prison sentence for aggravated sodomy and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
