CNN reporter dies

ATLANTA - A reporter for Cable News Network covering the Balkans has died of cancer. <br> <br> Mina Ivanovic died of cancer Wednesday at Northside Hospital. She was 36. <br> <br> Her funeral is Friday at at H.M. Patterson and Son, Spring Hill. <br> <br> She passed up a career in international banking to become a reporter, specializing in her native Yugoslavia. <br> <br> She had free-lanced for CNN before being hired as its Atlanta-based international assignment reporter in 1994. She had started with the network as a temporary interpreter. <br> <br> CNN&#39;s chief news executive Eason Jordan hired Ivanovic. She had in-depth knowledge of the Balkans region and was fluent in Serbo-Croatian and English, having grown up in New York City.
