DECATUR - A DeKalb County parent has been accused of attacking and beating a teacher because she believed the teacher slapped her daughter.
Lalindus Cater of Decatur beat the first grade teacher with a cell phone and coffee mug in a classroom full of students, police said.
Cater then took her 6-year-old daughter and fled from the school, they said.
DeKalb County police were still searching for Cater, 41, on Friday. She will be charged with two counts of aggravated battery.
Police said Cater went to Canby Lane Elementary School on Wednesday with her daughter insisting that she had been slapped and ``demanding to know who did it.''
``A couple of teachers present went to the office to get help, and the suspect just attacked,'' said Jim Hanson, deputy public safety director for DeKalb County schools.
The attack sent teacher Dawn Martin, 43, to DeKalb Medical Center bleeding from cuts on her face and head.
