MARSHFIELD, Wis. - A baby girl whose mother was found dead after giving birth in a college dormitory bathroom died Sunday.
Julienna Marie Hubbard, a full-term baby, died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, said hospital spokeswoman Carla David, who would not give any information on the cause of death.
The infant's mother, Karen Marie Hubbard, was found not breathing on Tuesday in a bathroom stall at Oak Ridge Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Paramedics found Julienna when they removed Hubbard from the stall. The newborn weighed between 5 pounds and 7 pounds, officials said.
No one on campus had known Hubbard was pregnant. The freshman prepharmacy major had ignored inquiries from her roommate and other students, telling them she was sick but OK, authorities said.
The cause of Hubbard's death was under investigation. But Eau Claire County Medical Examiner John Folstad said it is believed that she died of complications related to childbirth.
