VIENNA - A Dooly County probate judge accused of attacking a sheriff's deputy after a tornado in Vienna in 1999 Monday pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and an apology in court. <br>

Judge Dwayne Forehand was charged with felony obstruction of an officer, misdemeanor obstruction and simple battery after he allegedly fought with a deputy who had pulled him over for driving after dark in violation of a curfew on April 18, 1999. The deputy, Ed Bailey. who was from Jones County, had been sent to Vienna to assist after the tornado. <br>

Forehand says he took the plea because after almost three years he was ready to put the ordeal behind him. <br>
<br>
A judicial qualifications committee may issue a letter of reprimand to Forehand.
