STATESBORO - Sean Peterson scored in 28 points, and Georgia Southern came back from a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat Furman 86-78 in a Southern Conference matchup Monday night. <br>

Peterson scored 20 points during the second-half rally. <br>

Terry Williams added 19 points for Georgia Southern (13-9, 6-5), who shot just 33.3 percent in the first half. Anthony Thomas led Furman (11-11, 4-7) with 22 points. <br>

The Paladins, who led by as many as 20 points during the first period, led 39-25 at intermission and were ahead by 12 after Thomas knocked down two free throws with 17:20 to go following a technical foul against Eagles coach Jeff Price. <br>

GSU then went on a 27-7 run over the next seven minutes, including nine by Peterson, to move ahead 58-50.
