Winde Barrow has hired a new football coach with a record of rebuilding programs. Union County Panthers Head Coach Brian Allison has resigned from the 8-AA team to accept the head coaching job at Winder Barrow, in 8-AAA. <br>

Allison replaces Jimmy Bentley.<br>

Winder Barrow posted consecutive 4-6 records <br>
over the last two years and will move next year to 8-AAAA.<br>
<br>
Allison, 36, led the Panthers to a 9-1 regular season finish last season in 8-AA, region runner-up to Greater Atlanta Christian. Allison's Panthers lost 31-28 to the Morgan County Bulldogs on a last second field goal in the first round of the state playoffs.<br>

Allison was an All-State lineman at Union County in the mid-1980s. The Blairsville native was a four-year starter at Furman, playing for two national championships.<br>

He was a defensive assistant on the Paladins'<br>
national championship team.<br>
<br>
He returned to his alma mater in 1996, taking over the Panther program. Under Allison, the Panthers went 36-25 over the last six seasons. The Panthers returned to the state playoffs last year, the first such visit since Allison's playing days.<br>
