WASHINGTON - Interest rates for mortgage loans continued to drop in metro Atlanta this week, according to a weekly survey by Bankrate.com.<br>

The rate for the 30-year-loan averaged 6.52 percent, down from 6.56 percent last week; the 15-year-loan slipped to 6 percent from 6.02 percent; and the one-year-adjustable rate was 4.60 percent, down from 4.66 percent. <br>

The loans carry discount points, or fees lenders charge at closing The points averaged 0.77 for a 30-year-loan, 0.72 for a 15-year loan and 0.33 points for the ARM. A point is 1 percent of the loan. <br>
