MILLEDGEVILLE - Jurors deliberated for just more than an hour Monday before convicting a Baldwin County man of murder in the strangulation death of his former girlfriend. <br>

Kelvin Simmons, 36, was sentenced to life in prison for the January 2001 slaying of Shelia Easley in her Milledgeville home. <br>

Easley, 39, who worked at Georgia Military College, was found dead in her home after she failed to return to work from lunch and did not pick up her twin 2-year-old children from day care. <br>

Easley's brother met Baldwin County sheriff's deputies at her home. They forced their way inside and found Easley dead, lying on the floor near the door.
