Morris Brown president to resign in June

ATLANTA - Dolores Cross, who has been president at Morris Brown College since 1999, announced plans to resign June 30. <br> <br> College officials said Tuesday that Cross is on a leave of absence. She was the first female president at the private liberal arts college that now serves more than 2,700 students. The college is affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church. <br> <br> Morris Brown officials declined to discuss Cross&#39; departure or reasons surrounding her decision. Reginald Lindsay, Morris Brown&#39;s interim chief financial officer, has been named interim president. <br> <br> Cross, a Newark, N.J. native, previously served as Chicago State University president. <br> <br> During her tenure at Morris Brown, she has worked to improve the 121-year-old college&#39;s national profile, as well as campus facilities, technology and enrollment. <br> <br> Two other Atlanta University Center colleges, Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University, are also conducting presidential searches. School officials have narrowed their applicant lists and hope to name new leaders within the next few months.
