CONYERS - Two teen-agers have pleaded guilty to vandalism at a Rockdale County school, causing more than $200,000 in damage.
Rex Terry Newman Jr., 17, and Bryan Lee Grantham, 15, admitted trashing J.H. House Elementary School on July 23, just two weeks before classes were to begin.
Entering through a skylight, they smashed televisions and computers, shattered glass doors, and tossed furniture through display cases filled with trophies.
The teens, who were former J.H. House students, coated it all, including 12,000 library books, with a yellow phosphate residue of seven fire extinguishers they sprayed throughout the building.
Newman and Grantham have been jailed since summer and are charged as adults. Grantham is the grandson of state Rep. Barbara Bunn, R-Conyers.
The teens are expected to be sentenced by Superior Court Judge Sidney Nation in the next few weeks. They face sentences of up to 25 years in prison.
