LAWRENCEVILLE - Milt Thompson, an Atlanta Braves outfielder in 1984-85 who is now a batting instructor with the Philadelphia Phillies, has been charged with abandonment of a dependent child. <br>

Thompson, 42, is accused of failing to pay his ex-wife $45,000 in child support payments. Charges filed Thursday claim the last payment for his two daughters who live with their mother in Lawrenceville, was $835 in January 1998. <br>

Thompson joined the Phillies' coaching staff in 1998.
