CLINTON, S.C. - North Georgia College & State University's freshman first baseman Brian Brinson (Gainesville, GA.) went two-for-five at the plate with three RBI to lead the Saints to a 9-2 win over Presbyterian College Tuesday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex. <br>

The Saints started the scoring in the top of the third inning as Brinson connected on an RBI-single followed by a Blue Hose walk which gave North Georgia a early 2-0 lead. Freshman outfielder Paul Matheny (Lawrenceville, GA.) was credited with a fielder's choice which scored the Saints' third run of the inning. <br>

Presbyterian cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks in part to a throwing error by the Saints which scored junior first baseman Matt Warren (Lexington, S.C.). The Blue Hose scored their second run of the inning on a fielder's choice by junior second baseman Tombo Hite (Abbeville, S.C.). <br>

North Georgia picked up one run in the sixth to extend the lead to 4-2 on a sac fly by Matheny which scored teammate sophomore left fielder Merritt Ainslie (Madison, GA.). The Saints extended the lead with three runs in the seventh on a RBI-single by junior catcher Brett Hall (Sugar Hill, GA.) followed by a two-RBI double by Brinson. The Blue Hose threatened in the bottom of the inning with bases loaded where not able to get a run across to cut the lead. <br>

The Saints put the game out of reach at 9-2 with a pair of runs in the eighth inning on a two-RBI single by junior second baseman David Loder (Lilburn, GA.). North Georgia took advantage of nine Blue Hose walks and three errors on the day. <br>

The Saints' starting pitcher senior left-hander Rob Lystad (Snellville, GA.) picked up the win after throwing five and two-third innings allowing two unearned runs on four hits while striking out four batters. <br>

The Blue Hose starting pitcher junior Brian Prahl (Peachtree City, GA.) took the loss to drop to 0-3 on the season after going one and two-third innings allowing three runs, two earned on four hits. <br>

The Saints were led at the plate by Brinson and Hall who went two-for-four with two runs scored and an RBI. <br>
<br>
PC was led at the plate by reigning SAC Player of the Week selection, sophomore outfielder Kevin White (Spartanburg, S.C.), who went two-for-four with one run scored. <br>
<br>
North Georgia improves to 10-6 overall while Presbyterian falls to 6-7 on the season. <br>
