ATLANTA - Tuesday felt like springtime, but a cold blast is headed to Georgia.

Temperatures are expected to plunge into the 20s in parts of the state during the next two nights.

Plant expert Walter Reeves (host of WSB radio's ``Lawn and Garden Show'') says early bloomers such as azaleas, forsythia, flowering quince and daffodils should be all right without being covered.

But he says if the plant is a favorite camellia, cover it just to be safe.

Reeves says the plants what will be hardest hit are those you can't cover - the saucer magnolias and Japanese magnolias.

Provide plenty of water when protecting plants because wind and cold can dehydrate them.
Use cardboard boxes or black plastic to cover plants. If you use clear plastic, it must be removed the next morning to avoid a greenhouse effect that can burn leaves.
