Hall County resident Jason Powers, the 2-time defending 103 pound State Champion from Jackson County Comprehensive High School, was named to the all-classification All-State Wrestling team by DiVarsity.com.
Jefferson's 3-time champ, Hunter Garner, made the team at 152 pounds.
They were selected from the five reigning state champions in the five high school classifications, single-A through 5-A, to represent their respective weight classes. Only fourteen wrestlers were selected- one from each weight class. Selections were based on this year's record as well as career records and number of state championships won.
Both Powers and Garner are juniors. Powers was 42-1 this season, and 120-19 for his career. Garner was 49-0 for 2001-2002, and 140-6 for his career.
Dacula's Paul Stansbury, who won at 140 pounds this season, was the State Wrestler of the Year for DiVarsity.
Stansbury is a four-time state champ in various weight classes, 37-0 this past season, and 154-6 for his four-years in high school.
