LAGRANGE - A teenager has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that destroyed a school. <br>

Police said the 16-year-old student used gasoline to set the fire at Sound Christian Doctrine Academy about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and then drove away. <br>

Lieutenant Beverley Walker with the LaGrange Fire Department said the building was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Strong winds hampered their efforts to control the blaze. <br>

She said the $150,000 dollar building is a complete loss. <br>
<br>
A state trooper spotted the teen-ager driving away and tried to pull him over. The pursuit ended when the boy hit a tree. <br>
<br>
The youth has been charged with second-degree arson and traffic offenses. He is being held at the Columbus Regional Youth Detention Center awaiting a hearing.
