Cingular wireless invests over $500 million in Southeast

ATLANTA - Cingular Wireless today announced that consistent with its plans for the year, it will invest more than $500 million in the Southeast (Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Kentucky) in 2002.<br>

Cingular Wireless also announced that its wireless network in Atlanta, GA, garnered the highest rating ("5 stars") for overall wireless network performance as reported by independent research and advisory firm Telephia*.<br>

The rating is based on a composite score including quality coverage, dropped call and blocked call performance, as measured in July 2001. <br>
<br>
$94 million was spent last year in network improvements of its wireless networks in Georgia. <br>
<br>
Telephia provides data and intelligence to wireless carriers and other wireless businesses on voice and data network performance, market share, churn, media spending, pricing and customer perceptions.<br>
<br>
Cingular Wireless is the second largest wireless carrier in the U.S.<br>
