The candidates include Campbell, who grew up in Raleigh, as well as two seminary deans, two professors, two administrators at other universities and two Shaw vice presidents.
The school received 33 applications for the post of outgoing Shaw President Talbert Shaw, who plans to leave December 31.
Gary said he hopes the search committee's choice can be named by the end of the year. He says the school wants a president who can quadruple the university's enrollment to ten-thousand, add classrooms and buildings, and boost the endowment from $15 million to $50 million.
