LADY LAKE, FLORIDA - The man whose apparent epileptic seizure caused him to drive into a crowd of people at The Villages in Florida this week had just moved to the area from Marietta.
Rosalie Tomlinson says she and husband Larry were planning to move into their new home in The Villages Friday. But they spent yesterday in their hotel room, wondering if it was safe to even venture out for a meal.
Authorities say 73-year-old Robert Dittmeyer of Lady Lake, Florida, and 47-year-old Sue Feely of Cudahy, Wisconsin, died in the mishap Wednesday night. It took place during The Villages annual Winter Wonderland celebration.
Police released Larry Tomlinson from custody yesterday. No criminal charges are expected, since it appears he simply had an epileptic seizure and lost control of his SUV.
His wife said when the truck came to rest, onlookers pulled Tomlinson from the vehicle and began punching him.
But a police spokeswoman said today only one spectator punched Tomlinson in the head as off-duty police officers from Leesburg were trying to get Tomlinson out of the car. Police officers weren't sure who threw the punch and no charges have been filed.
Tomlinson had undergone brain surgery earlier this year and was told to avoid head trauma. But he was not seriously hurt.
