General Mills considers closing Georgia plant

LITHONIA - General Mills Incorporated says it is considering closing a plant in Lithonia, east of Atlanta. <br> <br> The Golden Valley, Minnesota-based maker of Wheaties, Cheerios, Betty Crocker mixes and Yoplait yogurt says it has contacted the employees&#39; union to discuss the idea. A final decision is expected in several weeks. <br> <br> The Georgia plant employs 215 people and produces refrigerated dough products for the company&#39;s retail division. <br> <br> General Mills purchased it from the Pillsbury Company in October 2001. <br> <br> General Mills has previously announced some plant closings in other states.
