WOODBINE - A former sailor assigned to Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base was sentenced Thursday to 80 years in prison for molesting 13 children.
Elloy Torrez Gutierrez told Superior Court Judge A. Blenn Taylor he accepted ``full responsibility'' and asked for leniency, but Taylor said the former petty officer first class should never be released from custody.
``You committed 13 hideous offenses against these children. This will follow these children the rest of their lives,'' Taylor said.
The earliest Gutierrez, 36, can be released from prison is in 72 years. Georgia law requires people convicted of felony child molestation to serve at least 90 percent of the sentence.
Gutierrez was arrested in February. Naval Criminal Investigative Service special agents launched the investigation this year after a parent called to report suspicious activity.
