ATLANTA - The government says Gulfstream Aersopace Corporation will pay $2.1 million to settle federal age discrimination allegations made by 61 former employees.
The workers, most of whom were company managers, accused Savannah-based Gulfstream of laying off people over 40 years old and keeping younger, less qualified employees between August and December 2000.
Gulfstream is a subsidiary of General Dynamics Corporation.
The employees filed suit in U.S. District Court in Atlanta. A federal judge has preliminarily approved a consent decree settling the lawsuit.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says Gulfstream denies discriminating against the employees, but has agreed to provide sensitivity training on equal employment issues to its management.
