ATLANTA - The Coca-Cola Company has named Steve Heyer its new president and chief operating officer Wednesday.
But Coke stressed that he's not being groomed to take over the world's largest beverage maker -- at least not anytime soon.
The announcement was made during an afternoon conference call with Heyer and Douglas Daft, Coke's chairman and chief executive officer.
Heyer previously served as president and chief operating officer of Coca-Cola Ventures and Coca-Cola Latin America. A replacement for head of the Latin American division has not been determined, but Heyer says it would likely be someone from inside the company.
