Judge refuses to dismiss $75,000 lawsuit

LAWRENCEVILLE - A judge has refused to dismiss a defamation lawsuit filed by the executive director of the Atlanta Humane Society against a Lawrenceville resident. <br> <br> Humane Society director Bill Garrett filed the $75,000 suit against cat-rescuer Kathi Mills after she described Garrett as ``Mr. Kill&#39;&#39; in an Internet chat room last year. <br> <br> Attorneys for the Humane Society and Garrett say 32-year-old Mills harmed the reputation of Garrett and the AHS with her posted comments. <br> <br> Gwinnett Superior Court Judge William Ray did, however, dismiss the portion of the lawsuit filed against Mills by the Atlanta Humane Society. <br> <br> Mills&#39; attorney -- Rob Adelson -- says he may soon file an appeal to Ray&#39;s ruling.
