MARIETTA - The Marietta City Council has voted 5-2 to reprimand Mayor Bill Dunaway for confronting a city official and using inappropriate language.
Dunaway confronted the city's economic development director, Brian Freese, earlier this year. Officials would not give details about the incident.
The reprimand was pushed by 22-year veteran Councilman Philip Goldstein. Anthony Coleman and Jim King voted against the resolution Wednesday.
King says he's seen situations where people who've acted more severely than Dunaway had were not reprimanded.
Dunaway, who has apologized to Freese, says he was frustrated with the council, but promised not to hold a grudge. Dunaway was elected mayor in 2001.
