Douglas County Jail employees accused of having sex with inmates

DOUGLASVILLE - A corrections officer and cook at the Douglas County Jail are accused of having sex with inmates there. The female employees have been fired, officials said Monday. <br>

Douglas County Sheriff Phil D. Miller said that last week Velverly Arnold was seen walking into a supply storage area with a male prisoner. A sergeant discovered Arnold, a corrections officer, having sex with the inmate. <br>
<br>
Shirley Billinger, 61, also was accused of having sex with male prisoners. Billinger worked as a cook at the jail, officials said. <br>

Both employees had been with the department for eight years, Miller said. <br>
<br>
The women face felony charges of having improper sexual relations with prisoners in custody.
