Clinch County whips Dooly County to win Class A title

HOMERVILLE - Top-ranked Clinch County beat Dooly County 50-14 in the Class A final by getting two big first-quarter plays from Lamar McKnight and Darrion Thomas and cruising the rest of the way. <br>

After Thomas combined with Borris Lee to sack Dooly County's Chad Bryant for a safety, McKnight immediately returned a kickoff 75 yards for a 9-0 lead. <br>

Clinch County went ahead 16-0 on Dooly's next possession when Thomas recovered a fumble and returned it for a 32-yard touchdown. <br>

The Panthers (15-0) won their first state title since 1991. <br>
<br>
Dooly County (8-7) last played for a championship in 1983.
