ATLANTA - Travelers heading to Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport are bracing for a long day. Just four days before Christmas, Hartsfield officials estimate more than 223,000 travelers will be passing through the airport Saturday. Friday, there were an estimated 243,000. <br>

Travelers also had to deal with new baggage security regulations this holiday. <br>

The U.S. Travel Security Administration, created after the September Eleventh terrorist attacks, has a mandate to screen all checked baggage for explosives by December 31. <br>

On the roads, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright cautions drivers to be especially careful as the holidays near. This year, the state Department of Motor Vehicle Safety and GSP predicts about 814 car accidents during the 30-hour period starting the evening of Christmas Eve and ending midnight on Christmas.
