HONOLULU - Tulane coach Chris Scelfo, a former assistant at Georgia, has received a two-year contract extension through the 2007 season.
In his fourth season with Tulane, Scelfo has led the Green Wave to an 8-5 record and a 36-28 win in Wednesday's Hawaii Bowl. He is the first coach in school history to lead Tulane to two bowl games.
``Continuity is a major factor in successful programs, and this extension not only solidifies it for us now, but also answers the questions for recruits and their families who will be the coach at Tulane,'' Scelfo said in a statement Wednesday.
Scelfo is 20-27 at Tulane. He also served as an assistant head coach and offensive line coach at Georgia (1996-98) and offensive coordinator at Marshall (1990-95).
