Councilman accused of burglary at police station, city hall

BERLIN - Berlin Councilman Joshua Chanaan Davis has been charged in a break-in at the Berlin Police Department and City Hall. <br> <br> Davis, who also is a police officer in the city of Quitman, was charged Monday with one count of burglary after investigators said they found items that were stolen from the buildings at another man&#39;s home. Davis, 28, was released on $20,000 bail. <br> <br> Berlin, with about 600 residents, is about 20 miles north of Quitman in southwest Georgia. <br> <br> A shotgun, $80 in cash, a gun-cleaning kit and three cartons of cigarettes were stolen from the police station, and an undetermined amount of cash was taken from the city hall next door sometime between Dec. 23 and Dec. 16, according Colquitt County sheriff&#39;s reports. There was no sign of forced entry into either building. <br> <br> Investigators said they found stolen items at the home of Jason Dean of Berlin. A burglary warrant was taken for Dean&#39;s arrest, but he was not in custody Monday night. <br> <br> Authorities did not explain the relationship between Dean and Davis, who has been on the council almost a year.
