Forty-two-year-old August Ghilarducci of West Chicago was charged Thursday with 16 counts of wire fraud and eight counts of money laundering.
Fifty-three-year-old Ronald Richardson of Acworth, Georgia, was charged with eight counts of wire fraud and three counts of money laundering.

Prosecutors say the men sold various financial instruments to clients between March 1996 and June 2001.

They say the two promised their clients substantial profits from international bank trading programs when they knew the investments had little or no value.
Richardson's phone number is unlisted. A call to Ghilarducci's home went unanswered.
