GAINESVILLE - From U.S. Senate to county school board, there will be 18 contested races voted on in Hall County in Tuesday's General Election. However, because of by-district voting in some races, not every race will be on every ballot.
Local contested races are for State Senate 47th District, State SEnate 49th District, State Senate 50th District, State House 21st District, county commission post one, county commission post three, and school board post one.
Hall County Director of Elections Anne Phillips says the touch-screen machines will be used again, but there will not be a demo unit at each precinct this time.
"However, we will have handouts with instructions on them and, of course, the poll workers are always there to give any assistance they can for anyone who may not have tried (the new machines) yet," Phillips said.
In addition to 18 contested races, there will also be six constitutional amendments and five referendums on the ballot in Hall County. All are questions that will be voted on statewide.
Phillips say if you did not vote in the summer primaries, it would behoove you to check your voter registration card. That's because your polling place may have changed since your last voted.
"And, if you did not go to vote (in the summer), you need to check that out and see where your polls are located now."
