DOUGLAS - High winds and severe storms swept through four south Georgia counties on Tuesday morning, wrecking buildings and causing some injuries. <br>

The storms damaged several mobile homes, chicken houses and other buildings in rural Atkinson, Berrien, Bacon and Coffee counties. Two people were reported injured, but no one was killed, officials said. <br>

There were reports of tornadoes, but officials could not immediately confirm them. <br>

In Coffee County, wind knocked down trees and caused power outages. <br>
<br>
One day earlier, thunderstorms and tornadoes ripped across north and central Georgia as part of a system that killed at least 35 people in five states. <br>

No one was killed in Georgia, but nine people were injured and about 200 buildings were damaged, according to Georgia Emergency Management Agency officials. <br>
<br>
The worst damage was in Pickens County, 45 miles north of Atlanta. Dean Hutsell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, said the damage there was caused by a tornado. <br>
<br>
Another tornado struck middle Georgia on Monday, hitting Jones County, southern Monroe County and the northern-most tip of Bibb County. It was short-lived and weaker than the one in Pickens.
