Death of USC student from Suwanee ruled an accident

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Richland County Corner Gary Watts says the death of a University of South Carolina freshman in August was an accident. <br> <br> Jessica Horton, 18, of Suwanee died when she fell from her sixth-floor dorm window ledge on August 18th, a day after she arrived on campus. <br> <br> Watts says Horton either fell asleep or lost her balance as she tried to re-enter her room in Patterson Hall. <br> <br> School officials are reviewing whether to alter the dorm rooms to keep students off the ledges. <br> <br> Watts says no drugs or alcohol were found in the woman&#39;s system. <br> <br> Investigators think Horton apparently climbed onto the ledge to talk on her cell phone and smoke cigarettes.
