MARIETTA - The Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Museum, which has been closed for renovations since 1997, will reopen this weekend with more space and a new state-of-the-art movie.
Park Superintendent John Cissel says there was nothing wrong with the old information -- but the new program is ``so much more modern and up-to-date.''
The renovation, which doubles the museum's space to 1,700 square feet, is the first since the museum opened in 1964.
Cissel says the renovation was necessary because for years the museum had kept historical items and artifacts in storage because of a lack of display space.
The added displays will let visitors get an overview of the entire Civil War and not just Kennesaw's role in it. It now has room to accommodate temporary or traveling exhibits, as well.
