Warner Robins senator concedes despite 1,200 voting in wrong districts

By
WARNER ROBINS - State Senator Michael Moore, a Democrat from Warner Robins, conceded defeat to Republican Ross Tolleson Thursday but says more than 1,200 people voted in the wrong district.

Moore says he found more than 800 voters in Houston County and 400 voters in Monroe, Lamar, Upson and Peach counties who voted in the wrong districts because of problems with the electronic ballots.

Moore says he will not challenge the election results because he doesn't want to drag the voters of that district through a special election.

Joe Stanton is assistant director of the state Reapportionment Office. Stanton confirms that Moore had found some who voted in the wrong district but says the errors were not enough to change the outcome of the election. Moore lost by 882 votes.

Moore was elected earlier this year to the state Senate to fill the vacant seat of former Republican Senator Sonny Perdue, who ran a successful campaign for governor.
