ATLANTA - A DeKalb County foster home where an 11-month-old child choked to death on a hotdog has been closed down.
George Walker the Third was placed in the home after the Department of Family and Children Services determined his biological mother could not take care of him.
The death was ruled accidental, but the foster mother, Bobbie Ward, was not at home at the time of the death. Her 19-year-old daughter was watching the child.
Wilfred Hamm of the Department of Family and Children's Services says the department has closed the foster home permanently. Three children were removed from the home, officials announced earlier this week.
The child's biological grand-mother has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the state.
