Pre-inaugural party planned by Perdue

By
ATLANTA - Sonny Perdue is planning quite a party this weekend in middle Georgia.

The governor-elect is having a pre-inaugural party Sunday afternoon at the state fairgrounds in Perry. The party is open to the public, and organizers say several thousand could attend.

Perdue plans to thank his supporters and treat them to some light snacks and music. Top aides to Perdue said Sunday's party will be the first time a Georgia governor has held a pre-inauguration party, especially one outside Atlanta.

Partygoers are asked to wear Sunday dress, but this weekend's party will be downright casual compared to the actual inaugural ball. Perdue will be sworn in on January 13, and that night is devoted to fancy soirees attended mostly by campaign supporters.
