Four die in accident in Thomasville traffic accident

THOMASVILLE - Four people were killed in a two-car accident Thursday after witnesses said a car crossed the center line and struck a sport utility vehicle. <br> <br> Police said Stephine Hightower, 24, and Frederick Edwards Sr., 30, died in the wreck, along with two juveniles not identified by authorities. <br> <br> Witnesses said a Ford Contour was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 84 Bypass when it moved into the northbound lane and hit a Ford Explorer head-on. <br> <br> ``We have two eyewitnesses who say the Contour swerved and hit the Explorer,&#39;&#39; Thomasville police Lt. Norman Taylor said. <br> <br> The four people killed were riding in the Contour, and four other passengers in the vehicle were injured, police said. Two of the three people in the Explorer also were injured. <br> <br> The names of the others involved in the accident were not released.
