JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - Tropical storm watches were posted from Cocoa Beach, Florida, to Brunswick, Georgia, Thursday as Kyle, a tropical depression, moved in from the Atlantic, kicking up a rough surf as it came.
Although it was possible Kyle could again become a tropical storm as it neared land, Steve Letro of the National Weather Service in Jacksonville said, ``We're probably not going to get much out of it. The most we will see is some rough surf, some rain and some gusty winds.''
He said the strongest part of Kyle, southeast of the center, is expected to remain offshore.
At 2 p.m. EDT, Kyle, which had meandered in the ocean for 20 days, was about 95 miles east of Daytona Beach, moving west-northwest at 12 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds near 30 miles per hour.
It was on a curving course and was expected to brush against northeast Florida before possibly making landfall north of Brunswick on Friday.
