Lecture series named in former CDC directors's honor

ATLANTA - Doctor Jeffrey Koplan, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was honored Wednesday with an annual lecture series in his name. <br> <br> The new CDC director, Doctor Julie Gerberding, and the assistant surgeon general, Doctor Edward Baker, announced the creation of the series, titled the ``Jeffrey Koplan Lectureship on Global Health Leadership.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Koplan is currently vice president for academic health affairs at Emory University&#39;s Woodruff Health Sciences Center. Koplan was CDC director from 1998 until March 31.
