PENSACOLA, FLORIDA - AFLAC co-founder Paul Amos and his wife have contributed $500,000 to Pensacola Junior College's public television station, WSRE-TV.
Amos left the town of Milton, near Pensacola, 47 years ago with his two brothers for Columbus, Georgia, where they founded AFLAC. The insurance company has become associated with a successful television commercial campaign featuring a frantic white duck that quacks ``AFLAC.''
Amos's wife, Jean, is a Pensacola native.
The donation will be used to help convert the station to digital technology. WSRE-TV officials say they are halfway to their goal of raising two million dollars for the second phase of the project.
