Officer shoots suspect in purse snatching

ROSWELL - Roswell police have released the name of the suspect shot and killed by police after a woman reported he had snatched her daughter&#39;s backpack from a car in a shopping center. <br> <br> Sergeant James McGee identifies the suspect show as 34-year-old Stephen Burke of Alpharetta. <br> <br> Police received a call about 5:20 p.m. Monday. McGee says Officer David Moss shot the suspect ``several times&#39;&#39; after the man refused to put down a gun that appeared to be a handgun. Investigators learned after the shooting the weapon was a BB gun. <br> <br> The 26-year-old Moss is on paid administrative leave while authorities investigate the shooting. Moss was hired as a police officer in January of this year after he had worked as a detention officer for the city.
