FRANKLIN - A lockdown at Heard County Comprehensive High School has ended after authorities caught an escaped inmate who attacked a high school teacher.
Assistant chief of police Michael Red says 19-year-old William Bradley Morgan has been charged with aggravated assault and escape.
Principal Richard Carlisle says a physical education teacher unlocked the gym about 7 a.m. to go to her office when she was confronted by the inmate.
Police say the inmate asked for her money and car keys. He bound the teacher's hands with duct tape in her office.
Red says the suspect stole a small amount of cash from the teacher but did not get her car keys.
Police arriving at the scene were not aware that Morgan, jailed for violating probation, had walked away from prison detail Monday afternoon.
Red says a concerned citizen saw a suspicious man in plain clothes walking along the road a few hours after the incident at the school.
Deputies say he had been wearing a jail uniform but had changed into a T-shirt and jeans.
Police arrested Morgan about four miles away from the school before noon. No injuries were reported.
