GAINESVILLE - A true sign of fall in Gainesville is the arrival of the Blue Sky Concerts presented by Main Street through October.

Opening the series on the downtown Square Wednesday was Danny Ray Cole, folk and Celtic musician.

"I enjoy playing happy music," said Cole.
"Celtic,Cajun, Blue Grass is just fun!"

The Blue Sky Concerts continue every Wednesday on the Square from noon until 1:00 p.m.

As in years past, people showed up with lunch, lawn chairs and blankets to place on the ground while they listened to the entertainment.

Elizabeth Waters stepped out of her downtown shop nearby to sit on the lawn and listen to Danny Ray Cole.

"It's a good idea," Waters said.
"They've been doing it for a couple years now and we enjoy it."

Downtown worker Jerry Gill did not bring lunch but did come to listen.

"I think they're a good thing to do," Gill said.
"They bring more people downtown and bring more exposuure to downtown Gainesville."

Coming up on the Square through October are the Associates October 9, the Gainesville High School Band October 16, The Gainesville College Jazz Band October 23d,and Ultra Sound on October 30.
