ATLANTA - Fourteen schools in southwest Atlanta will open Thursday despite water main breaks in two areas.
School officials had said Wednesday they might have to close the schools because of the breaks.
The area affected are in the areas of Cascade and Fairburn roads and at Harbin Road.
United Water is working to restore service to the areas.
Some 15,000 residents are experiencing low water pressure because of the breaks. Residents are being to boil water for at least 24 hours after the mains are repaired.
Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin issued a statement yesterday apologizing for the inconvenience caused by the breaks and said the city will conduct a review of the problem. A 90-day review on the United Water contract is already under way.
